Description
FOR SALE: 2011 Ferrari 599 Fiorano GTB HGTE.
Car and Driver says this car “blurs the line between GT and sports car,” while evo magazine touts the Enzo-engined 599 GTB HGTE (short for ‘Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione’) as having “one of the greatest engines of all time” – take a look around the mountain of reviews and they’re all likely to suggest the same: what we have here is truly one of Maranello’s finest.
At its time of launch in 2009, the HGTE package cost owners an eye-watering $30k USD (approx. RM140k at present rates) which enriched the twelve-cylinder Ferrari with a lowered, retuned suspension consisting of stiffer springs, a thicker rear anti-roll bar over the standard 599, retuned adjustable shocks, slightly wider front wheels, and 20-inch rims.
All of this translates to a lap time that is 0.6s quicker than the standard 599 at the Fiorano test track, done without the addition of extra power or obsessive weight-reduction strategies. Six-tenths of a second might not seem like that much, but over the course of ten laps: that’s a six second lead.
And that, for some, is worth it all.
