The RX-7 FC3S continued Mazda’s commitment to the Wankel rotary engine, which had already made the RX-7 famous. Unlike traditional piston engines, the rotary engine used in the FC3S offered high-revving capability and compactness, delivering smooth and unique power delivery.
The FC3S was heavily inspired by the Porsche 944 in terms of design and handling, with Mazda engineers focusing on creating a well-balanced and nimble sports car.
